Petrich  Municipality is located in the south part of Blagoevgrad Province and southwestern part of Bulgaria on an area of 650 000 decares. The population in 2001 was 57689 as 29606 live in Petrich. On the north-east it borders with Sandanski Municipality and on the north - Strumyani Municipality. The borders with Macedonia  and Greece are on the west and south respectively. Petrich Municipality is a busy Balkan and European crosspoint of 2 seas- it’s only 90 km from the Thessaloniki port of the White sea, where Bulgaria has a neutral section for trade exchange on the territory of the Mediterranean sea and 380 km from the Vlore ferry port, Albania in the Adriatic sea.
